Why book a boudoir session?  Well there’s lots of reasons…

It’s been around for a while so you probably already know someone who’s done one or at least talked about it but I guess everyone has a different motivation.  Probably the most usual is a ‘bridal boudoir’ session, booked by a bride-to-be and the images given on the morning of the wedding to give the groom something to think about on the run up to the ceremony.  Or the images make a great gift for an anniversary, special birthday or just because you think they deserve a treat.

Although I love to give a present as much as the next girl, I actually don’t think these are the very best reasons for doing it.  Don’t get me wrong, they’re great reasons and the images are certainly always received with a thrill but to be honest, I think the very best reason to book a photo shoot is ‘no reason at all’.

I’m not just trying to sell to you here, although obviously you’re always welcome, but a while back I thought I’d better practice what I preached and take part in a shoot myself. I was nervous, I’m definitely not used to being that side of the camera but I have to say by the end of the session I felt like a million dollars!  It’s such a confidence boost to pose it up in front of the camera and feel like you really do look fabulous.  OK, it needs to be a safe environment and the posing the lighting needs to be flattering (I’m not exactly a spring chicken so I’ll take all the help I can get), but it’s a massive rush to do it.

The picture on this page isn’t me – it’s one of my very beautiful clients proving beyond a shadow of a doubt that you don’t need to bare all to be sexy.  Which brings me to my next point, the ‘scary’ factor of a boudoir session really depends on what you define it as.  Some clients like to start it casual in jeans and shirts, then move to cocktail dresses and might not reveal any more than a hint of stocking top.  Some clients want to keep it flirty with fifties pettiskirts and wiggle dresses and some clients want to bare a little more in lingerie.  They’re all still boudoir sessions – I’d define it as any photo shoot that is focused purely on you, on making you look and feel your absolute best and expressing your inner sexy in whatever way you feel comfortable.  And you don’t have to just pick one style, you can mix and match to create the perfect set of images for you.

So why book a boudoir session?  Why not…
