Gift Voucher Photography in East Grinstead

This family had received a gift certificate to have some long overdue family photos taken at our studio a few months but mum was a little bit nervous about getting her photo taken so they had put off booking for a while. For the first few minutes it was obvious that she was a bit nervous but we were soon laughing and joking and all thoughts of nerves were quickly forgotten. At the end of the session, she even said how much she had enjoyed it!

Do you know what is the most common thing people say to me on entering our studio?  “I hate having my picture taken” or “Having my picture taken makes me nervous”.  This doesn’t tend to come from our teenage generation as they seem to have all grown up being comfortable in front of a camera – you only have to look at Facebook and the ubiquitous selfie to gather that – but anyone older than that more often than not harbours qualms about getting in front of the camera.

There are two things I have to say to this common camera shyness…

Firstly, it’s my job to make you look as good as possible and so I’m going to help you all the way to achieving this.  You don’t need to know how to be a model, I will guide you every step of the way from how to stand to what to do with your hands.  I’ve studied and practiced for years in terms of lighting and posing to give you the best possible chance of liking what you see when you look at the finished picture. Also I’m not very scary and so you can relax with me, have a few giggles and forget your worries.

Secondly, it doesn’t hurt.  I promise that, unless I were to turn feral and start beating you with my camera (and I love my cameras far too much to subject them to such violence!), having your picture taken is completely painless.  The absolute worst thing that can happen is that you don’t like the pictures and you never look at them again.  In more than a decade and goodness knows how many clients, that hasn’t happened although I’m sure a fair percentage thought that it would before they got into the studio.  So it stands to reason that it is more than likely that you’ll leave the studio feeling happy, relaxed and without a single scar or bruise.  Plus a couple of weeks later, you’ll have some photos that you love and will be very glad you had taken.

So those odds have to be worth taking don’t they?  Make your booking today and grab some of those family portraits you’ve been meaning to get done for years and you’ll be glad you did.

About the Author:

I am a professional Creative ~ Photographer, Videographer, Cinematographer and Drone Pilot My professional photographic career started at the tender age of 13 when I won my first commission to photograph an art collection by a local artist. It paid £50 which was reasonable money for an ambition 13 year old in 1978. I have continued to take pictures ever since, and quite simply, I couldn’t be happier! I am professionally qualified with the British Institute of Professional Photography (BIPP) and the Society of Wedding & Portrait Photographers (SWPP), and also the Masters Photographer Association (MPA), although I have recently decided to give up my membership of the MPA in favour of the other two associations.
