This lovely family have been planning a shoot for a long while and finally got booked into the studio to capture some very special images - three generations of the women in the family. Photo shoots like this are extra precious to us as they are a little more than just images that will look great on your wall (although of course they will), I really think they are more like family heirlooms.
Never work with children and animals they say but at the studio, well, we do both on a regular basis and we don't mind it one bit! It doesn't need to be a stressful experience and a little preparation can go a long way to making sure that you get the results, and the images, that you want from your session. Try to Make Sure there's No Rush - it sounds a bit obvious
… images in the post found on the internet … OK, we know winter can just be wet and miserable at times, but on a sunny day Autumn and Winter location shoots can be lovely! And if a snowy day is manageable that is all the better! For colours you really need to stand out with strong, vibrant tones. Choose bright reds, blues or greens. Although normally we don't recommend heavy like patterns or checks
This little lad's family are no strangers to our studio as they have been coming to visit us since his big sister wasn't very big at all but it's always a pleasure to see them. This was his first solo outing for a photo shoot though as it was especially to celebrate his upcoming second birthday. He was a little shy at first but then Mum agreed to get in on the photo action and, as you can see, he
These three lovely ladies came to visit to celebrate a very special 13th birthday with a party photo shoot. They have been friends since they first met at infant school and the bond between them was very clear to see. So we had wonderful fun in the studio creating images of them all together as well as some very lovely single shots. They brought four great looks to play with - jeans and tshirts, beach wear, party wear
Everyone likes a party and this little gang certainly rocked in the studio for a birthday party photo shoot. Four different outfits, lots of posing and lots of giggles, they were fabulous girls that's for sure. We had casual jeans and t-shirt look, onesies (well who doesn't love a onesie?), skater skirts and finally cute and short dresses - so we had lots of different looks to play with both for group and individual shots. Birthday party shoots
The first thing that I see when I look at this portrait of two sisters that came into the studio recently is their cheeky smiles. And there were lots of cheeky smiles during their session that's for sure - they just lit up the studio. They looked so gorgeous in their matching pink dresses and those dresses really served to show them off without distracting attention away from them in the finished photos.
I've said it lots of times before and I'll probably mention it lots of times in the future, but photos can make amazing gifts for lots of different occasions - Christmas, birthdays, anniversaries, you name it! This photo of all the grandkids together was created for a 70th birthday and I've no doubt at all that there will be a very proud grandad who is delighted to receive it. The extra effort that the families have gone to in getting
One of my favourite things to do in the studio (although I don't like to play favourites as I love all our visitors!) is the teenage and pre-teen birthday party photo shoots. It is always such fun and I'm surprised every time at how good the girls are in front of the camera. So I was looking forward to Alivia's party on Friday evening and of course I wasn't disappointed. They were are a super-gorgeous group of girls and we
This gentleman is pictured with his great-grandchildren at his 90th birthday party. We were thrilled to be asked to come along and capture pictures of him celebrating with his family and friends. Rather than simply capture the party as it happened, we wanted to create some more formal images to record him with his guests and so we took along our mobile portrait studio. Completely self-sufficient in terms of power, we just set up our lights (we can bring along
When you have a newborn baby, those first smiles are incredibly precious and no amount of people telling you that it is 'only wind' will make you believe that your baby is not communicating with you. But there is a great deal more that is also wonderful about this new person you have made and I think, if you were to ask me, little baby feet and toes have got to be up there in terms of sheer cute factor.
This little lady paid her second visit to the studio with her mum under the Baby Photography Scheme (our free baby photography club - find out more here), but this time it was a bit of secretive visit as the pictures where going to be part of her Daddy's birthday presents. OK this works best before your little one is able to speak, and go home and say to her Daddy, 'we went to see a funny lady today...' -
For those who have gift vouchers from Christmas, please note the expiry dates and ensure you book your family photography session in good time. This move was from such a session booked recently, I have renamed them to 'Bouncy Family' due to the 'Tigger-esk' nature of the four boys who certainly came with plenty of energy!
You know, particularly when you become parents, your camera gets a lot of use. Special occasions and every day outings are all recorded in equal measure and you're going to treasure all these photos of your son or daughter growing up. If you're doing it right, you should have plenty of pictures / ammunition to embarrass them royally when they hit teenage years! Plus, this is the time that you're most likely to book into a portrait studio to get
With newborn babies, there really is no such thing as them being too small to bring into the studio. In fact there are some stunning images that you it is possible to create in their first two weeks of life that you will never get the chance to do again as they grow and develop. There are a few reasons for this but the two main ones are 1. They are still really sleepy - as long as they have
Well we are finally all settled into our new portrait studio - same building, just a different floor! Upstairs at our studio in Crawley Down, we have whole raft of exciting new things to offer our customers with lots more news to come shortly on that front. However, in the meantime, here is my favourite pictures from one of my first sessions in the new portrait studio. She is just stunning with one of the cheekiest smiles I've ever seen,
Well honestly, if this little chap's smile doesn't melt your heart a little then I don't know what will. He was good as gold when he came with his mum, dad and brothers and sisters for his second Joey Club session - a real pleasure to deal with despite the fact that he'd been quite poorly the week before. We had lots of fun playing with everyone in the family (the fluffy cushion proved particularly fascinating!) and I was really
Especially at this time of year, it's good to keep wrapped up warm and snuggly and this little chap took the advice very seriously and kept himself cocooned in his cardigan as he napped in our studio. There were lots of great pictures but this I think was my favourite because of the look of contentment on his little face. Newborn photography in the studio is one of my favourite type of sessions. The best age to capture them is
So when you are marrying in January, you have to be realistic about your prospects for a sunny warm day but when the weather forecast lets you know that you are expecting half a foot of snow, you have a couple of choices. You can stay indoors or you can get out your wellies and make the most of it. So this bride quite obviously chose the latter of the two options and I have to say, it was an
